The Repro Project #2: EXO
The Repro Project is a collection of installation performances created by an acrobat and visual artist/designer. A machine that reveals and questions the power and control of mankind. On the border of visual arts and circus Camiel researches how we, humans, are relying on our machines.
EXO is the second installation project in this series. Like PRESS it deals with the theme ‘dependency of technology’. This time it is approached in a different way. In a time where appearance is “power”, this work finds a way how to incorporate the audiences perspective and the changebility with it. Again this artpiece will be a construction that is manipulated by a body, but this time audience members have more influence in how they want to see the work. Camiel searches for content in relation to his physical material. EXO will be researched in different venues and public/open areas in order to find the right resonance of society.
Every different experiment/installation is one element of the full Repro Project.
The concept
Again this art piece will be a kinetic installation that is manipulated by a body, but this time audience members have more influence in how they want to see the work. Camiel searches for content in relation to his physical material. EXO will be researched in different venues and public/open areas in order to find the right resonance of society.
The design
Together with visual artist and circus maker Edwin Schulte I designed EXO to be a prism on it’s point. A shape that not only questions the very balance of gravity, but also give the viewer a constantly changing perspective. A near caleidoscopic experience.
Two versions
EXO has two versions.
One version that is free standing and is perfectly suited for place without rigging.
One version is rigged (to 1 point 500kg ).
